Insomnia at it's best...

Ah yes. I, the person who normally takes ten minutes to fall asleep and sleeps until woken up by people screaming my name, me who has no sleep problems, me, your kind humble little blog author... I am the one suffering from insomnia.

So, to remedy the situation I hustled on over to my cousin's blog, and commented on every single one of her 2010 posts. I think there were about fifty. You see, she just recently fixed it so she can receive comments, and I had stored up quite a few words throughout the months.

Now that I have commented on all of her posts, well all I can take: now it is the time for ramblings of my own, not directed by any original post. Are ya ready?

Take a sip of the cactus juice and try to follow my insomniatic brain. Good luck!

When I think of insomnia I think of Adam Young, better known as Owl City. He began his career with insomnia. If only I could write music... But alas, although I am a good musician, writing it just is a bit out of my league. I'll stick to writing stories and random blog posts. :) :)

His lyrics shall begin my 'not actually written by me' portion of the post...

"Leave my door open just a crack
(Please take me away from here)
'Cause I feel like such an insomniac
(Please take me away from here)
Why do I tire of counting sheep
(Please take me away from here)
When I'm far too tired to fall asleep"

~Owl City, Fireflies

indeed. I'd recommend you go listen to that whole song if you want know how I'm feeling right now. During the day it may seem strange and random, but it makes perfect sense to me at the moment!

Ah, lovely.

My next tidbit comes from Aly and Aj. Oh yes, back in the day I was quite a fan! This song seems even more suited to my current mood...

"One by one
The days, grow longer and longer
And I, in my own sweet pain grow stronger
I must admit, I must admit, I must admit
it's a good insane
I must admit, I must admit, hear me admit!

Whoa-oh oh
I am erratic
Can't break the habit
My current status
With you I'm insomniatic
With you I'm insomniatic"

~Aly and AJ, Insomniatic

I am erratic, but it's a good insane ;)

now, I simply love this quote,

"Insomnia is a gross feeder. It will nourish itself on any kind of thinking, including thinking about not thinking." ~Clifton Fadiman

and this one,

"If a man had as many ideas during the day as he does when he has insomnia, he'd make a fortune." ~Griff Niblack

truest thing in the world.

This one is also scarily true,

"Nothing cures insomnia like the realization that it's time to get up." ~Author Unknown

quite worrisome, indeed.

And this final one is more like a paragraph, but it is the truest of all...

"It's at night, when perhaps we should be dreaming, that the mind is most clear, that we are most able to hold all our life in the palm of our skull. I don't know if anyone has ever pointed out that great attraction of insomnia before, but it is so; the night seems to release a little more of our vast backward inheritance of instincts and feelings; as with the dawn, a little honey is allowed to ooze between the lips of the sandwich, a little of the stuff of dreams to drip into the waking mind. I wish I believed, as J. B. Priestley did, that consciousness continues after disembodiment or death, not forever, but for a long while. Three score years and ten is such a stingy ration of time, when there is so much time around. Perhaps that's why some of us are insomniacs; night is so precious that it would be pusillanimous to sleep all through it! A "bad night" is not always a bad thing." ~Brian W. Aldiss

marvelous!!

Now back to songs...
This one is by Cadillac Sky, lovely band, quite lovely!!

"Toothpicks in my eyelids, lying wide awake in bed
Tossin' and turnin' like the sea
Moonlight shining like headlights in my room
Hypnotized by the stripes on my TV

Ohhh
I'd give anything
For just
One good night's sleep
One good night's sleep"

~Cadillac Sky, Insomniac blues for Matthew

you have to go listen to that full song, it's awesome!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can feel my self winding down. See, this is the point of a blog!! Wonderful!!

I have a couple more songs...

This one is - simply - beautiful

"If you be my boat,
I'll be your sea
a depth of pure blue just to probe curiosity
ebbing and flowing and pushed by a breeze
I live to make you free
I live to make you free

but you can set sail to the west if you want to
and past the horizon till I can't even see you
far from here where the beaches are wide
just leave me your wake to remember you by"

~Gregory and the Hawk, Boats and Birds

currently one of my faves!! I discovered it while reading a fanfic named after it... You should check it out (The song and the Fanfic) ! :)

ahhhh we reach the end. Sleep is in my sights. Here is one last song for you, and then we'll perhaps see one more quote...

"Silent war is declared
Vision fails when the soul’s impaired
Noises numb the mind and
Love grows cold with time
If nothing fills the empty hole
That every human heart knows

So I will wait for you
Till fire burns, the earthquakes, and the waves are few
Cause silence is where you like to stay
So here I am I’m waiting for You
In this quiet place"

~Lanae Hale, Quiet Place

I love her voice!! Magnificent!!

Here is a quote to send you off -

"Dawn: When men of reason go to bed." ~Ambrose Bierce

and one more,

"O bed! O bed! delicious bed!
That heaven upon earth to the weary head."
~Thomas Hood, Miss Kilmansegg - Her Dream

I believe I shall now make the most of the precious few hours I have left.

Goodnight my dearest readers!!
